About Judy Eurey

In my life I am a wife to Ed, a mom to Amanda and Charles, Mimi to Sara and Jessy, and Judy to my friends and family. In 2019 I retired from pastoral ministry and have settled into my new normal. Frankly I love being retired. Unless otherwise noted, the Scripture passages used on my blog DayLight are my own paraphrased interpretations. I invite you to verify, dispute and otherwise comment. I am open to discussion.

DayLight Scripture –

You will indeed go out with joy, and be peacefully guided; the mountains and the hills will break into singing before you, and all the trees will clap their hands.

Isaiah 55:12

DayLight Prayer –

Father, The peacefulness of the mountain morning is a reflection of Isaiah’s hymn of praise. The early mist blends the colors and shapes of the clapping trees. It becomes the prelude to the glory of the sunlit melody of joy that is found in your glorious creation. God, you are great. God, you are good. I praise you. I rejoice in you! Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

Take up my way, all of you, and learn from me. I am gentle and humble in heart and in me you will find rest.

Matthew 11:29

DayLight Prayer –

Lord, Many times I consider your way most difficult. The reason is simply that I try to take up your way in my own strength and through my own will, rather than yours. I know that your gentle and humble heart is where I find rest and peace, but it is also there that I find the strength I need to take up your way. Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

You are the light of the world like a city on a hill that isn’t hidden.

Matthew 5:14a

DayLight Prayer –

Gracious God, Help me this day to live into these words of Jesus. Help me to be a beacon of light and not a shadow-caster. Let me sit high upon a hill and let my life be one that reflects your likeness. This is my prayer for today. I want to be that city… Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

The One who perfects and those who are perfected all have the same Father. So he isn’t ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters.

Hebrews 2:11

DayLight Prayer –

Lord, I know we have the same Father and you are my brother; we are family. I rejoice. Thank you for struggling daily in perfecting me to your likeness, for I know I’m a worse-case-scenario! That you love me and forgive me and walk with me each day are the greatest of blessings.  Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

For as the rain and snow fall from heaven, and do not return there without watering the earth and making it germinate and sprout, to provide seed to the sower and food to the eater, so then my word which comes from my mouth will not to return to me empty, but it will accomplish what I please, and it will prosper in what I send it to do.”

Isaiah 55:10-11

DayLight Prayer –

Father, Today I pray that your word which will go out from every place it is uttered and accomplish the work that you intend. Let it melt the stone heart; let it free the imprisoned soul; let it heal the wounded spirit; let it open the closed door; let it shine your light into dark lives. Let it be as you intend. Praise to the Holy One of heaven; the loving and the just, giver of the Word.  Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

So Eli said to Samuel, “Go and lie down again, and if God calls you, then say, ‘speak to me Lord, for I am listening.'”

1 Samuel 3: 9

DayLight Prayer –

Gracious Lord, In the business of my life I often miss you calling me. From amid the clutter of noise, responsibilities, and movement, I mistake you for just another voice. So Lord, help me to still myself in every hour. Help me to lay myself down in my mind’s quiet and say, “I’m listening, Lord.” Then I will hear you call clearly. Thanks be to my God who calls me.   Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

You are the earth’s salt. Yet if salt has lost its saltiness, how can it be restored? Really, it’s no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and be trampled into the earth.

Matthew 5:13

DayLight Prayer –

Lord, I think you mean that we who love you and follow you are to be the preservers and sustainers in the world we live in. When we’re not then our usefulness to you becomes suspect. Help me today to be one who preserves and sustains; useful to you and to the earth.   Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

Then Caleb quieted the people in front of Moses. He said, “We must go up. We must take the possession of the land. We can certainly conquer it.”

Numbers 13: 30

DayLight Prayer –

Lord, It is indeed difficult to be the one lone voice who stands up against the sentiments of the majority, particularly when they are family and close friends. But thanks be to you, Lord, that you give us strength and boldness to stand; you give us Caleb courage that comes from the assurance on what God can do through God’s people.   Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

People surround me with hateful words and attack me without cause; in return for my love, they accuse me, but I continue to pray.

Psalm 109: 3-4

DayLight Prayer –

Dear Lord, Sometimes I wonder what you think of the attacks that come to those who are trying to follow you; who are attempting to live the righteous life you desire amid this world of skepticism, apathy and lust. Do you simply wait for our prayers of deliverance?  Then…let us pray!  Amen.

He is here: the One who forms the mountains, creates the wind and reveals his thoughts to humankind, the One who makes the dawn out of darkness, and strides on the heights of the earth. Yahweh, the God of Hosts, is his name.

Amos 4:13

DayLight Prayer –

O Gracious and majestic God, Let me praise you on this bright morning for your divine presence with me. How can I fear, when you are here, the One, the creator, the sustainer of all things?  Amen.
