Daylight Scripture – Even if someone sins against you seven times in one day and returns to you seven times and says, ‘I am changing my ways,’ you must forgive that person.”
Luke 17: 4 CEB
Daylight Prayer – Gracious God, when I think I must forgive so many times the offenses of someone who repeatedly hurts me in one day, I think to myself, it’s impossible. And then I remember how many times you forgive me in a day, how many times I say I am sorry, how many times I hurt you. Help me to see the way of forgiveness through your heart and not mine. Help me to do better. Amen.
Daylight Scripture – There’s a season for everything and a time for every matter under the heavens: a time for giving birth and a time for dying, a time for planting and a time for uprooting what was planted, a time for killing and a time for healing, a time for tearing down and a time for building up, a time for crying and a time for laughing, a time for mourning and a time for dancing, a time for throwing stones and a time for gathering stones, a time for embracing and a time for avoiding embraces, a time for searching and a time for losing, a time for keeping and a time for throwing away, a time for tearing and a time for repairing, a time for keeping silent and a time for speaking, a time for loving and a time for hating, a time for war and a time for peace.
Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8 CEB
Daylight Prayer – Lord, what time do we really have? Just the briefest…I know. Help me spend the time I have learning from you the way forward, the way to be, the way to live and the way to treat others. Show me the ways of Christ, so that I can ever move towards his likeness. Let this be my time for peace. Amen.
Daylight Scripture – I give you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, so you also must love each other.
John 13:34 CEB
Daylight Prayer – Lord, when I try to follow this command you gave me, I fail. Some people I can’t love on my own. I need you to help me. I ask you today to help me love in the agape love of Christ, who loves and saves us all. Fill me with your Spirit, I pray. Amen.
Daylight Scripture – The Lord is my solid rock, my fortress, my rescuer. My God is my rock—I take refuge in God!—God’s my shield, my salvation’s strength, my place of safety.
Psalm 18: 2
Daylight Prayer – Holy God, today is a day when many people will be struggling for life and livelihood, for a contented family life and a loving relationship. Today I am praying for people who are stuck in places that they want to move out of, loneliness, depression, fear and poverty. I ask you to rescue them and give them what is needed in life. Earth as it is in heaven. Yourself. Amen.
Daylight Scripture – When you return to the Lord, your relatives and your children will receive mercy from what may hold them captive…the Lord your God is merciful and compassionate. God won’t withdraw God’s presence from you if you return to God.
2 Chronicles 30:9
Daylight Prayer – Lord, today I pray for every person who is held captive by physical restraints, prison, mental illness, emotional pain, long distance and dark spiritual ties. Lord give them release through what ever means available to you. Let them see the beauty and light of your Holy Spirit given to them by those around them, most especially their loving families and friends. Help them in their need to return to you. Amen.
Daylight Scripture – Look at how good and pleasing it is when families live together as one!
Genesis 133: 1
Daylight Prayer – Today I pray for families of the world, those who are happy, and those who are broken; those who are making ends meet and those who aren’t; those whose lives are full of meaning and fun and those whose day to day is a struggle; Lord bless the families large, small, diverse and complicated. Amen.
Daylight Scripture – Abram said to Lot, “Let’s not have disputes between me and you and between our herders since we are relatives. Isn’t the whole land in front of you? Let’s separate. If you go north, I will go south; and if you go south, I will go north.”
Genesis 13: 8-9
Daylight Prayer – Lord, I get it. Fighting gets us nowhere. Sometimes being apart is better that being together. Loving from a distance is okay. At least that is what I get from you in this story. Amen.
