ShelterDaylight Scripture – The protection of the Lord will be a tent by day for shade from the heat and a hiding place and shelter from a storms.

Isaiah 4:6

Daylight Prayer – Lord it is on days like we are having now, when the seasonal sun is near and hot that I understand my need for shade. Likewise the summer storms flail upon me with fury, and I understand my need for a hiding place. Lord, I praise you because when my spirit is low and the days bring hardships, you are there to protect and shelter me with your love and comfort…no matter what the season may bring. Though I am undeserving, I am grateful always for your great and tender mercy to me. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – Don’t try to make yourselves beautiful on the outside, with stylish hair or by wearing gold jewelry or fine clothes.  Instead, make yourselves beautiful on the inside, in your hearts, with the enduring quality of a gentle, peaceful spirit. This type of beauty is very precious in God’s eyes.

1 Peter 3: 3-4

Daylight Prayer – Lord, did you make the butterfly to teach us how to recognize beauty,  peace and gentleness? Even if that was not your plan, I have learned these things from watching these most exquisite creatures. Help me to let go of my vanities. Help me to seek to focus on the inside stuff, the only place that can be cultivated into the beauty of Christ. Lord, have mercy. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – God blessed all his created creatures and said, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.’

Genesis 1:22
Daylight Prayer – Lord, I know that this beautiful creature lives only a few days. I am thankful that you made such wonderful things for us to enjoy here on this earth. I also know that compared to eternity my life span is very limited too. Lord, remind me to make good use of the life you have given me. Help me to allow the beauty of your creative work to be seen in me just as it is in your lovely winged creatures.

Daylight Scripture – Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.

Proverbs 31:8-9

Daylight Prayer – Lord, let me remember that today many people are facing hardship and hunger. Make a way for me to both remember and to be on their side; speaking, acting, and giving in love. I know that I could be that one any day. Give me knowledge. Strengthen me to help. Amen.

Matthew 11:28

Daylight Prayer – Lord, even though this time of year is made for rest and peace, for taking vacations,  and spending time with family and friends, I know some who are not resting or peaceful. Their lives are being bombarded with heartbreak, grief, sadness and worry. They are carrying very heavy burdens. Lord, come along beside them and help them to feel your blessed presence. Help them in their struggling to feel your love and comfort. No one can do that but you, I know. Thank you for being our burden bearer. Amen.

Proverbs 6: 10-11

Daylight Prayer – Lord, in the midst of these long lazy summer days, I ask for motivation to keep me moving. It is so east to say…’I’ll take care of that tomorrow,’ when I know the Spirit is saying, ‘do it now.’ Forgive me when I am lazy and I procrastinate. Keep me ever mindful of your kingdom’s work. Amen.
