Daylight Scripture – God is our refuge and strength, a help always near in times of great trouble. That’s why we won’t be afraid when the world falls apart, when the mountains crumble into the center of the sea, when its waters roar and rage, when the mountains shake because of its surging waves. Selah

Psalm 46:1-3
Daylight Prayer – Lord, thank you for your presence with me today. Thank you for the small reality checks you send into my life. Thank you for being my strength and my shield through all things. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – God blessed all his created creatures and said, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.’

Genesis 1:22
Daylight Prayer – Lord, I know that this beautiful creature lives only a few days. I am thankful that you made such wonderful things for us to enjoy here on this earth. I also know that compared to eternity my life span is very limited too. Lord, remind me to make good use of the life you have given me. Help me to allow the beauty of your creative work to be seen in me just as it is in your lovely winged creatures.

Daylight Scripture – Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.

Proverbs 31:8-9

Daylight Prayer – Lord, let me remember that today many people are facing hardship and hunger. Make a way for me to both remember and to be on their side; speaking, acting, and giving in love. I know that I could be that one any day. Give me knowledge. Strengthen me to help. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?

Matthew 6:25
Daylight Prayer – Gracious Lord, Let someone who is worried about their day to day needs read these words you said and take to heart that you are working in their life for good. Open up hearts around them so that the provisions they need will come. Help me too to see what I can do. Keep me from being blind to those who are in need. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – You have been born anew into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
1 Peter 1:3b
Daylight Prayer – Lord, some days is easier to see the newness of life you birth in people than it is other days. As I walk about today, I ask that you help me to see the newness of the resurrected life of Jesus Christ in the people I meet. And when I do not see that, help me hope! Amen.

Daylight Scripture – For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.

Psalm 139:13
Daylight Prayer – Dear Lord, It comforts me to know that you know us even before we are born. You know how we are formed, and what we will become. Today I pray for each child who is forming in their mother even at this moment, that your sweet spirit guides their development to perfection. And for those mothers who yearn to see the face of their child, comfort them with the knowledge that you are with them always. Amen.

Psalm 90:17
Daylight Prayer – Lord, I thank you for the blessing of work. Lord, bless these persons with joy in the midst of their hardships. Occupy their minds and hearts with the good and uplifting word. Send persons to them to be kind to them. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – Whoever instructs the cynic gets insulted; whoever corrects the wicked gets hurt.

Proverbs 9:7
Daylight Prayer: Gracious God, there are so many days when I want to instruct cynics and correct the wicked with a tongue of firey righteousness. Then I remember my own sins, doubts, and cynicism. Why is it that we so clearly see those things in others? Why is it we overlook our own grievous faults? Lord, forgive me and help me this day to vocalize kindness, understanding and hope to both the wicked and the cynical…which includes me. In your mercy, Amen.
