Now about that day or hour (when I shall return), no one knows it, angels don’t and neither do I. Only the father knows. So…you watch and be alert.

Mark 13: 32-33

DayLight Prayer –

Help us Lord to know that the here and now is most important. Help us remain undistracted with ruminations about that day and hour, but rather show us that today is the day we are saved. Amen.

Jesus took bread, thanked God, broke it, and gave it to his disciples. He said, “This is my body that I give for you. Remember me by doing the same.”

Luke 22: 19

DayLight Prayer –

Gracious Lord, it isn’t easy to be broken and given away. So Lord, help us to know that when we follow you, when our bodies are blessed, broken and given for others, it is in that sacrifice we become what you asked us to be, a memorial to you.  Amen.

DayLight Prayer –

Lord, when we try to put you in a box that we have designed and we have made, forgive us. Show us that you create us, we do not create you. Amen.

Lord, our days of toil and time seem to indeed break and scatter us. So Lord, I pray that today we will be scattered like good seeds upon the soil of any who need you. Let the good news grow in them; let it bear fruit that saves. Amen.

Be careful that no one takes you captive with pretty words that sound reasonable or by the offer of following a tradition or by any teaching that is not Christ-centered.

Colossians 2:8

May God be my teacher today, and may I be shown Jesus’ way, Jesus’ truth, and Jesus’ life. God, let that vision be my own reason today; that I am Christ-centered in everything I do. Amen.

Because of our God’s merciful compassion, the dawn from heaven will visit us to shine on those who live in darkness and in the deadly shadows; that light will guide us into ways of peace.

Gracious Father, for those of us who feel that we are stumbling around in the deadly dark with grief overwhelming us…I ask you to open the dawn before our eyes and give us the Way to see peace. Only you can cause the dawn. Amen.
