DayLight Scripture –
The one who welcomes you, welcomes me, and the one who welcomes me, welcomes the one who sent me.
DayLight Prayer –
Lord, please help us be aware that you present those we meet. Let us offer a hand to them in welcome and friendship. May our faces be to them…open and attentive…even amid our doubts about character or intent. Teach us to be fearless in showing love. Amen.
Jesus said, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be destroyed; it is the same for a house divided, it will fall.”
Luke 11: 17
Today, may those in leadership in places of power, in government, in social organizations, in media outlets, in ministries, in churches and in homes, take full advantage of the wisdom and inspiration God so freely offers to those who seek to become wise and inspired. May we allow God to heal our brokenness and stand us on our feet…so we can go forward. Amen.
Jesus is the image of God whom we can’t see; he is the first, born over all of creation.
God, as we think on life today, our relationships, our pain and hurt, our tasks, our duties, our problems, our joys, our accomplishments, our recreations, our sorrows…let us also think on Jesus, who is God, but was willing to take on life too. Amen.
Take words of sorrow with you and return to the Lord. Say to God: “Forgive all our sins, and accept the good so that we may repay you with lips of praise.
May God hear the sorrow of our repentant hearts, and may God forgive us as we forgive one another. May God’s blessings be such that all our sorrow vanishes and praising God rules the day. Amen.
For strangers and foes have come against me; If they could have their way, my life would be over because they are Godless. But God is my helper, the Lord keeps me from their snares and God secures my life.
Psalm 54: 3-4
May your faith be built up today because you witness how God has been your helper. I pray God gives you insight that any who may come to defeat you will have to come against God as well. Amen.
Can someone carry fire on his chest and not scorch his clothes? Or can a person walk across hot coals and not burn their feet?
Proverbs 6: 27-28
Lord, lead me to stay away from those things that harm me. Keep temptation from being so enticing to me that I reach for the temptation instead of reaching for you. Amen.
And there shall be a pathway called the Way of the Holy. Even though those who walk there may look misguided–they will not get lost.
Today as you try to figure out the right way to go, or the best decisions to make, those who go with God are never misguided. Amen.
Since God’s grace is all forgiving does that mean that we can do exactly as we please, disregarding the things God has laid out as God’s way?
As you go about your day, I pray that God will guide your understanding of God’s grace–the unmerited, underserved favor of the most high. And may that same grace enable you to pass the same on to those you encounter. Amen.
Forget about the treasures you may have here in this life, those things that can be gone in the blink of an eye. Rather prepare yourself for heaven, the unimaginable treasure found only in God.
Matthew 6: 19-20
May we forever seek God in whom everything we truly desire is found. Amen.
When someone turns on a lamp, they don’t cover it with dark cloth so that its light can’t be seen, instead they place it on a stool so that it can illuminate the whole room in which it is set.
Today, may God turn you on like a lamp…so that the light in you will shine. May your brightness be such that all who encounter you are amazed at you goodness. Amen.
