John 19:30

Daylight Prayer – O Lord, woe is me this night…when I remember your suffering and your death. It is not something that I like to think about, how you were beaten, mocked, denied, rejected, spat upon, and nailed to a cross. How can I say that was good? How can I understand that kind of love? My heart breaks and I grieve yet again that my sin put you there. Forgive me, Lord I pray. Amen.

Matthew 26: 14-16

Daylight Prayer – Lord, today is the day we remember how Judas betrayed you to the people who would have you killed. You knew that he was going to do it, for you knew his soul. How many times have I betrayed you? Did you know that I would? Forgive me, Lord. Cleanse me from the darkness of heart that would permit me to betray you…even in the slightest way. I know your mercy is never-ending, and your love strong enough to save me from my sin and from myself. Lord in your mercy, hear my prayer. Amen.

Proverbs 3:24

Daylight Prayer – Gracious Lord, Thank you for the pleasant feeling of peace when I lie down at night. I know you remember my prayers from when I was a little girl. I trusted you completely with my hours of slumber because I was sure you were right there watching me. I still feel that way even though I’ve stopped the, “now I lay me down to sleep” prayer I prayed then. I still trust you to either take me through the night to morning or take me home…either one, and I am alright. Amen.

Psalm 86: 1-2

Daylight Prayer – Some days, Lord…some days are just hard! Long! Frustrating! and I must admit, I am glad when they are over! Forgive me when I complain, fuss, cry and act a fool. I know better. But, when I am tired, poor and needy….what I need is more of you. So give me more, Lord. More. So that I can stand up straight and bless your Holy name; so that I can be generous; so I can be whole and well. Amen.
