Ephesians 4:2

Daylight Prayer – Tonight I pray for all persons who are suffering because of the changes in the administrations, laws and policies, not only in the US, but everywhere in the world. Please be a comfort, Lord, to children who do not know where they will be tomorrow, and mothers who want to be reunited with their families and fathers who long to hug their aging parents. Lord have mercy on us all. Amen.

Psalm 26:8

Daylight Prayer – Where do I find the place where your glory resides Lord? Is it in the majestic cathedrals that have been built all over the world? Is it by the roaring oceans at sunset or sunrise? Is it in the laughter of a child’s happiness? Is it in the tender moments of love between a man and woman? Or in ten acre canola field? I must admit, Lord. I find you in all those places. I am grateful that your house extends beyond my feeble imagination. Glory to your name. Amen.

Image result for country church and graveyardDaylight Scripture – Every morning and every evening they offer entirely burned offerings and fragrant incense to the Lord, and set out bread in stacks upon a clean table. At night they light the lamps on the gold lampstand. Yes, while you are abandoning the Lord our God, we are doing what he requires.

2 Chronicles 3:11

Daylight Prayer – Lord, I know that church is not where most people find themselves on a Sunday morning. I know there are a million excuses that people use not to think of or worship you on the Lord’s day. I know that people feel nothing when they have abandoned you, failed you and hurt you. Then I think…Lord, who else do we have that can bring us through this life to eternity? Who else? Forgive us when we do not do what is required, I pray. Amen.

Anyone who is not with Me is against Me, and anyone who does not gather with Me scatters.

Luke 11: 21-23

Daylight Prayer – Lord, I know that we do not all belong to the same churches, denominations, religious sects or tribes. But I pray that you will help us to remember that we are all working for the same Lord, the same kingdom, the same Good news. Let us be brothers and sisters, children of God in spirit and purpose. Amen.

Help us to share the invitation to the world of a radiate and joy filled way of living that anyone may have.  Amen.

Acts 27:41

Daylight Prayer – Lord, how many people feel like their ship has hit a sandbar and is beginning to break apart. I pray for those who are facing such a moment when the believe that they are about to sink into an ocean of danger and the unknown. 1 Corinthians 13:1

Daylight Prayer – Lord, oh how my heart hurts when I see and hear the words that we say to one another. They impale my spirit, hurt my feelings and leave me feeling like we humans have forgotten how to be kind. Today I ask you to help us be kind. Even in our disagreements, which I admit are many and harsh, help us to remember that when we speak (or write) we are speaking to people, not the air. We speak to people you love. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – The light of the moon will be like the light of the sun, and the light of the sun will be seven times brighter—like the light of seven days—on the day that the Lord bandages the people’s brokenness and heals the wounds inflicted by the blows of his judgment on sin.

Isaiah 30:26

Daylight Prayer – Lord, since the beginning you have tried to save us from the judgments that are upon us because of our sin. You have reached out to enlighten us, enfold us in love, and entreaty us to do good. But we are so stubborn. We seem to be unable to wake up to the fact that we are the root of our own problems! Lord have mercy on us…and especially on me. Continue to try to reach us. Your loving kindness (hesed) lasts forever…I am so thankful for that! Amen.

Daylight Scripture –  Even today, whenever scripture is read, a veil lies over the heart. But whenever someone turns back to the Lord, the veil is removed.

2 Corinthians 3:15

Daylight Prayer – Holy Lord. Thank you for the word of God, the Bible. Even though I stumble across much that is there, I am grateful that we have something that tells and shows us about our life with you from the beginning to the end: the whole story. Drench me in your Holy Spirit when I am reading your scripture so that I don’t stumble quite so much. That is my prayer. Amen.
