1 Chronicles 16: 8-9

DayLight Prayer – Lord, As one day turns to the next, as one year turns to the next, I want to say thank you for this year of transition. You have helped us all in the changes taking place, set us in a good place, and given us the abundant life that you promised. For those who have had a difficult year, a year of loss, a year of struggle, a year of pain,  I pray for their spirits’ healing. Instill in them the hope of your presence, and let them know that the best is still to come.   Amen. 

DayLight Scripture –  God named the dry land Earth, and he named the gathered waters Seas. God saw how good it was.

Genesis 1:10

DayLight Prayer – Awesome creator, today I marveled as I watched the geese take flight from the pond across the field in my back yard, how each bird knows how to fly in sync, wings together, chattering to one another like friends. God, this world you have made is glorious. I praise you for your great powers of creation. Create in me the spirit of Jesus today. Amen.

DayLight Scripture –  So the Egyptians enslaved the Israelites.  They made their lives miserable with hard labor, making mortar and bricks, doing field work, and by forcing them to do all kinds of other cruel work.

Exodus 1: 13-14

DayLight Prayer – Lord, Today my prayer is for people who live in various places of slavery. Even now, women, children and men are enslaved by people groups, governments, family situation, terrorists, addictions, misery, mental and emotional diseases, debt and illness. Have mercy on them Lord, and come quickly to their rescue. I pray through Jesus who frees us. Amen.

DayLight Scripture – The Word was with God in the beginning. Everything came into being through the Word, and without the Word nothing came into being. What came into being through the Word was life, and the life was the light for all people.John 1: 2-4

DayLight Prayer – Lord, I always think of the light of the world when I look at Christmas cards. So many of them show you and your mother with halos of light. I look for the day when the whole world is lit by your divine light and when all men and women, boys and girls see you in you divine glory. Come Lord Jesus.  Amen. 

DayLight Scripture –    When the angels returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go right now to Bethlehem and see what’s happened. Let’s confirm what the Lord has revealed to us.”

Luke 2:15

DayLight Prayer – Lord, You came for all of us, even the poor, the weary, the grief-stricken and the ones who are least noticed. Because of that knowledge, we can all rejoice, because all of us are broken at some point. Amen. 

DayLight Scripture –  Mary gave birth to her firstborn child, a son, wrapped him snugly, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the guestroom.

Luke 2:7

DayLight Prayer – Lord, Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear not…for you are with me. Praise be to God for the birth of Jesus Christ the Lord. He is our eternal gift. Amen. 

DayLight Scripture –  While they were there, the time came for Mary to have her baby.

Luke 2:6

DayLight Prayer – Lord, The waiting for the celebration of your birth is almost over. Emmanuel is the good news to be announced once again. I pray that at some time in this day that all people on earth will stop for a moment and grasp that they are not alone. I pray that they remember that you have come into the world, you created, to save it and them. Hallelujah! Amen. 

DayLight Scripture – The Lord’s spirit will rest upon him (the shoot of the stump of Jesse), a spirit of wisdom and understanding, a spirit of planning and strength, a spirit of knowledge and fear of the Lord.

Isaiah 11: 2

DayLight Prayer – Lord, Today I pray for all who are filled with wonderful over this season of Advent. Help those who are struggling to believe that you came to be one of us, to know us, and to show us who you are in a tender and dramatic season. Help me to open my heart to receive you fully into my life. Help us all to trust in the truth that God is with us. Amen. 

DayLight Scripture – And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

Luke 2: 8-11

DayLight Prayer – Lord, In this world where fear takes hold of so many hearts, where any hope for a better future seems unrealistic, where men, women, boys and girls struggle for identity, security, and love…I give you thanks that you have given us a way to know life without fear. I thank you for Jesus, our Christ, our Savior.  Amen. 

DayLight Scripture – Look! A virgin will become pregnant and give birth to a son,

        And they will call him, Emmanuel.[a]

(Emmanuel means “God with us.”)

DayLight Prayer – Lord, God bless me today. Give me the abundance of your presence. Look into my heart and show me any unnecessary thing that I keep there, and help me to empty it of any unloving, unwilled, unneeded, thing. Make me an open, clean, fruitful vessel for Emmanuel. Amen.
