FallingDayLight Scripture – The Lord’s eyes are upon those who love him. The Lord is a powerful shield, a strong support, a shelter from the heat, a shade from the midday sun, a guard against stumbling, and a help against falling;

Sirach 34:19

DayLight Prayer – Lord, Today I think about all those who will venture out into the world, and before they know it, they will slip and fall. Falling is something we all seem to do from time to time. It hurts us and it creates in us a fear that falling is common. Lord, help us with our fear. Seal us from the abuse that it anchors us to, and Lord, set us free. Amen.

Genesis 42: 21

DayLight Prayer – Gracious God, when our brothers and sisters are begging us for mercy, please help us to hear and help us to act.  Help me not to turn a blind eye or a deaf ear to suffering. Help me to love. Help me to give. Help me to encourage. Help me to pray. Help me to befriend. Help me to help!  Amen.

goalDayLight Scripture – I forget about the things behind me and reach out for the things ahead. The goal I pursue is the prize of God’s upward call in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3: 13b-14

DayLight Prayer – Lord, Some days I wander around thinking I will not accomplish much. I am so thankful that what is accomplished in your kingdom is not dependent on me, but on how your children are working together with you. Give us the wisdom to seek one another, band together, and hurry to be a part of bringing your kingdom to earth.  Amen.

giftedDayLight Scripture – Wrath is cruel and anger is a flood, but who can withstand jealousy?

Proverbs 27:4

DayLight Prayer – Lord, When jealousy creeps into my heart, it can be a little hard to shake. Help me hold on to the reality that there will always be people differently gifted than me, differently blessed than me, and differently led than me. red_rose_rentDayLight Scripture –  He is the head of the body which is the church, who is the beginning, the one who is firstborn from among all who have died,  so that he might occupy the first place in everything.

Colossians 1:18

DayLight Prayer – Lord, Today is a day when people mourn, a day when a life or lives have been taken from them, and they must say goodbye. I pray for those who grieve because their hearts are broken. Lord, comfort them, and give them peace as only you can. In grateful praise I thank you.  Amen.

attic-treasureDayLight Scripture –  Just as everyone came from their mother’s womb naked, naked they’ll return, ending up just like they started. All their hard work produces nothing—nothing they can take with them. This too is a sickening tragedy that they must pass on just as they arrived. What then do they gain from working so hard for what blows through?

Ecclesiastes 5: 15-16

DayLight Prayer – Lord, You have told me that I should be spending my time working for heavenly things. I know your words are true, for what can I take with me into heaven? The truth is, heaven needs nothing that I could bring! You are heaven’s treasure. Lord, keep me seeking after you and all that you want, and help me to abandon the silly trinkets of this world.  Amen.

faithDayLight Scripture – We can mutually encourage each other while I am with you. We can be encouraged by the faithfulness we find in each other, both your faithfulness and mine.

Romans 1:12

DayLight Prayer – Lord, I am always encouraged by the faithfulness of your people. I am thankful for them, because, honestly, some days I need to see faithfulness in real people. The bible gives me many stories of faithful people, but to see them in action, keeping their lives in obedience to you, letting their words and deeds spread your love, even in the face of suffering and hardship…well Lord, your people encourage me! Thank you for all of them. Amen.
