DayLight Scripture  – If one of your relatives—even one of your own siblings—or your own son or daughter or your dear spouse or best friend entices you secretly, if someone like that says: “Come on! We should follow and worship other gods”—ones that neither you nor your ancestors have experienced,  gods from all the neighboring peoples, whether nearby or far away, from one end of the earth to the other— don’t give in to them!

DayLight Prayer – Merciful God, When I am tempted to pledge allegiance to any other than you, break in. Redirect my waywardness and thwart my thoughts. Return me to your steadfast love and forgiveness. In this world that is so rife with things to worship, I can be dragged away so easily, actually so can we all. Amen.

DayLight Prayer – Lord, I know that some of us feel as though we are being eaten by lions, especially on a Monday. So Lord, remember us in your mercy. Rescue us from all that tries to destroy our life and witness. Set us up on the high place that is near to your heart, where our lives are safe and our souls are content. Amen.

DayLight Prayer – Great God. You have made me glad to have had a vacation. You gave me rest, relaxation, fun, and time to think. May I be able to gain strength and peace from your blessing of Sabbath days, and able to give to you the fullness of my work and life. Amen.

DayLight Prayer – Lord, I am always bowled over when I think about your love. I am constantly aware that in and of myself alone I don’t deserve such love as you are. I thank you Lord for the Lamb of God who makes me worthy to receive your mercy and live in your grace. Through Jesus’ sacrifice for me, I am not what I once was, I am new. I am new everyday. DayLight Scripture – Jesus called for the Twelve and sent them out in pairs. He gave them authority over unclean spirits. He instructed them to take nothing for the journey except a walking stick—no bread, no bags, and no money in their belts.

DayLight Prayer – Lord, these verses remind me just how naked we feel when we are in the world trying to live and be who you have called us to be, carriers of the good news. I often forget the authority you give, your assurances of provision, and the great need you want us to see to. Forgive me, Lord. Strengthen my resolve, and strengthen my commitment.  Help me to live fearlessly and help me to share. Amen.

DayLight Prayer – Lord, I pray for myself and all of us sinners who have mocked you. Forgive me when I do not see you for who you are, and when I acknowledge myself above you…thinking I know best. Forgive me for my ways that on most days are far from what you want for me. Teach me to listen, help me to hear your instruction, and resurrect me to new life everyday. Amen.
