Lord, I know that today there are people everywhere who are suffering. Grief, pain, loneliness, hunger, fear and despondency run rampant through the world. I pray today for people who are feeling like you have abandoned them. I know you have not. I know you are just beyond where they can see you or feel you. I pray, Lord, that somehow in your mercy, you sustain them and give them precious rest. Amen.

Sweet and merciful Father, Allow me today to have your grace working through my words and actions. Great God, Thank you for the friendships in my life; those people who love me in spite of my foibles, those who laugh with me, and those who cry with me. What a poor state I would be in if you had not sent them my way. They say that one cannot choose one’s family, which is true most of the time. But friends, I believe, are chosen by you and sent our way and are evidence of your great mercy in our lives. Thank you Lord! Amen.
