Fireplace_BurningDayLight Scripture – Also, whenever God gives people wealth and riches and enables them to enjoy it, to accept their place in the world and to find pleasure in their hard work—all this is God’s gift.  Indeed, people shouldn’t brood too much over the days of their lives because God gives an answer in their hearts’ joy.

Ecclesiastes 5: 19-20

DayLight Prayer – Lord, Thank you for the tremendous blessings you have given me. Today I am particularly thankful for a warm, safe place to live. More than enough food and clothing. I pray for those whom you help in these times. Help me Lord to have more compassion, and let me be generous with all I have.  Amen.

Magi_tissotDayLight Scripture – When they saw the star, they were filled with joy.  They entered the house and saw the child with Mary his mother. Falling to their knees, they honored him. Then they opened their treasure chests and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Matthew 2: 10-11

DayLight Prayer – Lord, Unto us a son has been born, a light for us to see, a blessing for all people. God thank you for the witness of wise people, who have risked life and lost life for the sake of your gospel. Had they not been willing to live sacrificial lives, then I would now sit in darkness, not knowing that you have made a way out of it. Amen.

waterDayLight Scripture – Good news from a distant land is like cold water for a weary person

Proverbs 25:25

DayLight Prayer – Sweet Lord, the Good news you have brought us today has blessed my heart. I know there are people who have stopped even looking for good news. That is sad, and I pray for them. No matter where I am, always send it, cause I’ll be looking for it and needing. You know I am always thirsty!  Amen.

DayLight Scripture – My dove—in the rock crevices, hidden in the cliff face— let me catch sight of you; let me hear your voice! The sound of your voice is sweet, and the sight of you is lovely.”

Song of Solomon 2:14

DayLight Prayer – Lord, I love the gentle words of Solomon as he describes the delight of love. I thank you for endowing us with the ability to know and feel love. If we were merely biological, sprung from the elements, successful diversities that “made it,” then I believe the ability to hold hands in joy, feel compassion, experience desolation, and even harbor ill would evade us. But we are more, we are your creations, made in your image.  Help me today to be more like you, living into my perfectly created nature, loving as you love. I pray in Jesus’ name.

thVDN43PVBDayLight Scripture – Haven’t you heard? I set this up long ago;planned it in the distant past! Now I have made it happen, making fortified cities collapse into piles of rubble. Their citizens have lost their power; they are frightened and dismayed. They’ve become like plants in a field, tender green shoots, the grass on rooftops, blasted by the east wind. I know where you are, how you go out and come in, and how you rage against me.

Isaiah 37:26-28

DayLight Prayer – Lord, Some days my whole self seems like it is raging, not so much against you Holy one, but against existence. Some days, the world just chews and chews on the ones I love, and I just can’t stand it. Thank your Lord for showing me that no matter what is going on here, you have it all covered…covered by the blood. Amen.

2 Corinthians 5:17

DayLight Prayer – Gracious Lord, Today I’m celebrating this new year of 2014. I pray that my heart is full of peace and love for those I will come in contact with this year. Help me in my ignorance to seek wisdom. Help me in my errors to seek correction. Help me in my sins to seek forgiveness. Help me in my dimness to seek your light to brighten my life and my walk. Thank you for this new year. Amen.

nyhatDayLight Scripture – Brothers and sisters, if a person is caught doing something wrong, you who are spiritual should restore someone like this with a spirit of gentleness. Watch out for yourselves so you won’t be tempted too.

Galatians 6:1

DayLight Prayer – Lord, Wow. If I could manage this kind of behavior during the new year, I will have a wonderful new year. For my ability to serve others with a true spirit of gentleness is what I ask for today. Help me make a difference to someone in 2014. Amen.

Romans 2:4

closetogodDayLight Scripture – David appointed some of the Levites to serve before the Lord’s chest in order to remember, to give thanks, and to praise the Lord, Israel’s God.

1 Chronicles 16:4

DayLight Prayer – Lord, I wonder if I would be better at remembering, giving thanks and praising the Lord, if I was appointed to by the king…or say the president. I expect I could go through the motions of these things, and it would seem like I was. God, in my life, make me attentive to remembering, your love, your grace, your blessings. Help me to give thanks for the good in my life and the unseen good. And Lord, Please give me a clear voice to praise you, one that is genuine, honest and true. I pray Jesus, appoint me in Spirit. Amen.
