wordsDayLight Scripture –  “You have heard that it was said to those who lived long ago, Don’t commit murder, and all who commit murder will be in danger of judgment. But I say to you that everyone who is angry with their brother or sister will be in danger of judgment. If they say to their brother or sister, ‘You idiot,’ they will be in danger of being condemned by the governing council. And if they say, ‘You fool,’ they will be in danger of fiery hell.

Matthew 5: 20-21

DayLight Prayer – Lord, Today I pray for those of us who use words to express ourselves. Forgive us when we use them to break down the worth of others, and to diminish others’  self-esteem. Forbid us to use our words to intentionally rob people of the regard of others or make them feel unworthy, ignorant, stupid or useless. Help us to know the gravity of our unloving and hurtful speech, even and especially on social media where it is so easy to be rude and crude! Help us to remember to honor one another as God’s creations and ones whom God loves. Amen.

ChildrenDayLight Scripture – People were bringing children to Jesus so that he would bless them. But the disciples scolded them. When Jesus saw this, he grew angry and said to them, “Allow the children to come to me. Don’t forbid them, because God’s kingdom belongs to people like these children.  I assure you that whoever doesn’t welcome God’s kingdom like a child will never enter it.”  Then he hugged the children and blessed them.

Mark 10: 13-16
