apostles_0DayLight Scripture –  The apostles performed many signs and wonders among the people. They would come together regularly at Solomon’s Porch. No one from outside the church dared to join them, even though the people spoke highly of them.

Acts 5:12-13

DayLight Prayer – Lord, Today I pray for all Christian disciples who are diligently ministering in your kingdom. Help them to continue even when they can’t see the fruit of their labors; when people talk good about them and when they talk bad. We all need your encouragement, so let us seek you for it and not look to the world around us for affirmation. Help us follow you and not the world.  Amen.

John 5:17

DayLight Prayer – Lord, I am so grateful that you are still working on me. I am also grateful that you are still working on all your creation, for we are decidedly foul! Help us in your mercy and grace to live in such a way that you are able to work through us. Amen.

fishingDayLight Scripture –  Simon replied, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and caught nothing. But because you say so, I’ll drop the nets.” So they dropped the nets and their catch was so huge that their nets were splitting.

Luke 5: 5-6

DayLight Prayer – Lord, Sometimes following your commands make little sense to us. Help us to see that when we are working on our own, the results are not always fruitful, but when you guide us…things will turn out differently. Renew our strength to continue on working, even when we are tired and really don’t make sense of your words. Help us to let down the nets for a catch.  Amen.

Matthew 5:7

DayLight Prayer – Lord, I know that I am often guilty of judgments. I do not always show mercy to those who are not acting Godly or the way I think they should. Forgive me, and help me to be merciful. Help me to understand everyday that we all are works-in-progress.  Amen.

Hospital-patient-in-bed-jpgDayLight Scripture –  Jairus, one of the synagogue leaders, came forward. When he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet and pleaded with him, “My daughter is about to die. Please, come and place your hands on her so that she can be healed and live.” So Jesus went with him.

Mark 5: 22-24

DayLight Prayer – Lord, Help us to be unafraid to approach you with our needs  for healing. Fill us with courage and faith so that we let nothing, our status, our wealth, our poverty, our sadness, our fear…let nothing prevent us from seeking you in our times of need. Amen.

questionsDayLight Scripture –  Jesus said to them, “Why do you fill your minds with these questions?

Mark 2:8

DayLight Prayer – Lord, Today I pray for all of us who have so many questions…which often begin with Why? I know that you are so holy that even if you gave the answers to each one of my questions, in my feeble state, I would still harbor my questions. Lord help me to trust you, and believe that in some space and in some time, you will show me all of the answers. Help me be content with your grace, mercy and unbelievable ability to make all things work together for good. Amen.

DayLight Scripture –  The sun rises with its scorching heat and dries up the grass so that its flowers fall and its beauty is lost. Just like that, in the midst of their daily lives, the wealthy will waste away.

James 1:11

DayLight Prayer – Wonderful Creator, who makes the beauty of every day complete, forgive us when we misplace our love and our desire for things that will never last. Help us to hold on to faith, character, peacefulness, making ourselves better and more like you. Amen.

yellDayLight Scripture –  I have the freedom to do anything, but not everything is helpful. I have the freedom to do anything, but I won’t be controlled by anything.

1 Corinthians 6:12

DayLight Prayer – Lord, We live in a world where people are feel free to express themselves in all kinds of ways, not all helpful. Lord make us aware, keep humility in our hearts, and fill us with love. That way our expressions will help and not hurt, heal and not kill.  Amen.

Spiritual giftsDayLight Scripture –  There are different spiritual gifts but the same Spirit;  and there are different ministries and the same Lord;  and there are different activities but the same God who produces all of them in everyone.

1 Corinthians 12: 4-6

DayLight Prayer – Lord, It is amazing that you give all of us gifts to be used in your kingdom. Today my prayer is for those who do not believe Paul’s words, who believe that God left them out when God was giving out the gifts. Help them to see through a nugget of faith that they have indeed not been left out, but have been given a unique gift that is all their own to use in your kingdom. Give them the courage to discover it and use it! Amen.

What is your spiritual gift?

Leave these items for the poor and the immigrant; I am the Lord your God.

Leviticus 23:22

DayLight Prayer – Lord, Today my prayer is for the many who are struggling to find food, shelter and safety. I know that lack of these basic needs brings despair, fear and heartbreak. God help us to be aware of our ability to help, and fill us with courage to act to help in ways that bring dignity and honor.  Amen.
