About Judy Eurey

In my life I am a wife to Ed, a mom to Amanda and Charles, Mimi to Sara and Jessy, and Judy to my friends and family. In 2019 I retired from pastoral ministry and have settled into my new normal. Frankly I love being retired. Unless otherwise noted, the Scripture passages used on my blog DayLight are my own paraphrased interpretations. I invite you to verify, dispute and otherwise comment. I am open to discussion.

DayLight Scripture –

People who are self-centered aren’t able to please God. But you aren’t self-centered if instead you are in the Spirit, if in fact God’s Spirit lives in you. If anyone doesn’t have the Spirit of Christ, they don’t belong to him.

Romans 8: 8-9

Daylight Prayer –

Lord, Prevent me from self-centeredness. Help me to know, to feel, to be empowered by your Spirit. Else I know all my work will not measure up to what it could be. Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

God is my loyal one, my fortress,
my place of safety, my rescuer,
my shield, in whom I take refuge,
and the one who subdues people before me.

Psalm 144:2

Daylight Prayer –

Gracious God, I am so grateful for the multitudes of blessings that you send to me everyday. I have never deserved your mercy, but you, O Lord do not let that stand in the way of your love. Forgive me for my sin, and save me I pray. Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

The Lord’s voice breaks cedar trees—
yes, the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon.

Psalm 29: 5

Daylight Prayer –

Lord, I believe your words, that they are faithful and true. If your voice breaks the cedars of Lebanon, then why are we so hard of hearing…why am I so hard of hearing. Today I ask you to attune my ears to the sound of your voice so that I can hear, and not be broken apart. Lord, let me hear you today. Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

God is the one who changes times and eras, who dethrones one king, only to establish another,
who grants wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those with insight.
God is the one who uncovers what lies deeply hidden; he knows what hides in darkness for light lives with him!

Daniel 2: 21-22

Daylight Prayer –

Most Holy One, I am thankful today for the hard working. I am thankful that they labor to care for old folks and children, get water and power running into my home, and who move my food to market. Let me always consider how many hands and how many hearts were involved in my life and bringing me comfort. Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

But nothing, not even my life, is more important than my completing my mission. This is nothing other than the ministry I received from the Lord Jesus: to testify about the good news of God’s grace.

Acts 20:24

DayLight Prayer –

God, It is always difficult to hand over the reins of one’s life to the One who needs to guide it. I have that difficulty every time I endeavor to give you everything. I always seem to hold back a little for myself. Forgive me when I stop short of giving you my all.. Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

Those who are deceived by worthless things lose out on their chance for mercy. But as for me, I will offer you a sacrifice of praise that I have promised, for deliverance belongs to the Lord.

Jonah 2: 8-9

DayLight Prayer –

Lord, Some of us expect to have a rough day, but then the days turn into weeks, then months, and then into years. For all my sisters and brothers in the world who have had a year’s worth of rough days, I pray. I ask that you will strengthen them; keep apathy and despondency away from their doors, and fill them with joy yet again. Amen.

Proverbs 3: 5-6

Can grief feel like an anvil on my heart? Like a black-out curtain over my day? Like a rock in the pit of my stomach? It must be grief that I am feeling, but why? Who knows why, Lord. Who knows why? I cry to you…have mercy on me and give me your understanding for mine has failed me. Direct me to the healing and peace that I need, I pray in Jesus’ name.. Amen.
