About Judy Eurey

In my life I am a wife to Ed, a mom to Amanda and Charles, Mimi to Sara and Jessy, and Judy to my friends and family. In 2019 I retired from pastoral ministry and have settled into my new normal. Frankly I love being retired. Unless otherwise noted, the Scripture passages used on my blog DayLight are my own paraphrased interpretations. I invite you to verify, dispute and otherwise comment. I am open to discussion.

DayLight Scripture –

You who are faithful to the Lord,
sing praises to him;
give thanks to his holy name!

Psalm 30:4

DayLight Prayer – Lord, Today I ask for your love to completely bowl me over. Help me to see you in the faces I meet. Help me to touch you in the hands I shake. Help me to feel you in the love I give to and receive from others. Help me to know that you are there with me to see, to feel, to touch, to feel.  Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

After he took his seat at the table with them, he took the bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them.  Their eyes were opened and they recognized him.

Luke 24: 30-31a

DayLight Prayer – Lord, My prayer today is for those persons who have yet to recognize you; the ones who long for a sustaining foundation of trust and faith. There are so many that simply misunderstand the gospel–and that I am afraid is the fault of us Christians. Poor as we are Lord, help us to show the Spirit of Christ so that the gospel comes across from our life in simple terms. Love. Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

Everyone knows that the wise die too,
just like foolish and stupid people do,
all of them leaving their fortunes to others.

Psalm 49: 10

DayLight Prayer – Gracious Lord, Continue to remind me that all that I take with me beyond this life is you. With me now, with me then, with me forever more. What an underserved gift. I thank you.  Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

But the Lord said, “You ‘pitied’ the shrub, for which you didn’t work and which you didn’t raise; it grew in a night and perished in a night. Yet for my part, can’t I pity Nineveh, that great city, in which there are more than one hundred twenty thousand people who can’t tell their right hand from their left, and also many animals?”

Jonah 4: 10-11

DayLight Prayer – Merciful One, I am so thankful that you never turn your back on me, especially when I don’t know what I am doing. Today may be difficult, with worries everywhere, but Lord continue to guide me and help me to keep going in strength. Make me worthy to carry your light and love throughout the day. Amen.

Jesus said to the Jews who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teaching.

John 8: 31

DayLight Prayer – Dear Lord, Faithfulness requires me to keep my mind clear of distractions which is so difficult for me. There are so many people, causes, things to divert my focus away from you. Lord let me be better at avoiding distractions and give me the centeredness I need to keep focused on you and your mission. Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, reason like a child, think like a child. But now that I have become an adult, I’ve put an end to childish things.

1 Corinthians 11: 11

DayLight Prayer – Father of love and giver of all wisdom, hear my words today. As the crisp air turns the color of the leaves, and the pup of footballs being caught mid-air filter through the open windows, and the yellow mums round their cushions with blossoms, let me also fair well in this Autumn day. Let your love and mercy be my way today.

 Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

The Lord stood by me and gave me strength, so that the entire message would be preached through me and so all the nations could hear it. 2 Timothy 4: 17-18

Daylight Prayer –

Gracious Lord, I pray for all those who are needing your strength. To those who have just lost their job, and those whose best friend has deserted them, and those whose money won’t make it for all their bills, and those whose baby won’t go to sleep, and those who are fighting a battle against addiction, and those who are up against the oppression of greed…Lord for us all I pray. Give us the strength that you gave Paul and save us. Amen.
