About Judy Eurey

In my life I am a wife to Ed, a mom to Amanda and Charles, Mimi to Sara and Jessy, and Judy to my friends and family. In 2019 I retired from pastoral ministry and have settled into my new normal. Frankly I love being retired. Unless otherwise noted, the Scripture passages used on my blog DayLight are my own paraphrased interpretations. I invite you to verify, dispute and otherwise comment. I am open to discussion.

Psalm 98:3

DayLight Prayer – Lord, These days the world can look like and be a dark and scary place. We see people killed, maimed, starved, and thrown away like a mere commodity. You are hurt that we use and abuse one another like we do. I pray for myself and all of us who proclaim Jesus as our Lord and savior, that we will stand up and be who you desire for us to be. Help us God to live like we are eternal recipients of your grace, like we have love to share, and like we are who we proclaim ourselves to be: the bearers of Light and liberty for God’s world.  Amen.

Malachi 2:7

DayLight Prayer – Lord, I know that I continually have a need for a priest, one who can give advice, hear my complaint, and keep me accountable. eye4eyeDayLight Scripture – You have heard that it was said, You must love your neighbor and hate your enemy.  But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who harass you.

Matthew 5: 43-44

DayLight Prayer – I know what you said, Lord, but for me it is really hard to pray for my harassers! I have a tendency to fume and falter and fail. May your Holy Spirit give me what I need to remember your words, because I do desire to be better to people than they are to me. I need you, Lord. Amen.

chagall2254 Issachar

DayLight Scripture – Issachar is a sturdy donkey, bedding down beside the village hearths. He saw that a resting place was good  and that the land was pleasant. He lowered his shoulder to haul loads and joined the work gangs.

Genesis 49:14-15

DayLight Prayer – Sweet Father, Today I remember that all of us are called to lower our shoulders and join the work gang. I know that I speculate that what I do is of very little value. Yet I know that as your child whatever I do with a pure heart will honor you. Give me a pure heart I pray. Amen.

portrait-collage-09DayLight Scripture – Don’t try to make yourselves beautiful on the outside, with stylish hair or by wearing gold jewelry or fine clothes. 1 Peter 3: 3-4

DayLight Prayer – Lord, I am so grateful that you don’t judge me by my outside beauty, my stylish hair, my jewels, or beautiful clothes…because I’d flunk out. Thank you God for giving me any measure of grace and beauty I have at all. Bless me with your love, and judge me with your mercy. Amen.

Psalm 31:5

DayLight Prayer – Oh God. I know that all of us will one day cross over from this life to the life waiting for us with you. Lord, indeed you have saved me, and save us all.
