About Judy Eurey

In my life I am a wife to Ed, a mom to Amanda and Charles, Mimi to Sara and Jessy, and Judy to my friends and family. In 2019 I retired from pastoral ministry and have settled into my new normal. Frankly I love being retired. Unless otherwise noted, the Scripture passages used on my blog DayLight are my own paraphrased interpretations. I invite you to verify, dispute and otherwise comment. I am open to discussion.

Daylight Scripture – I meditate with my heart at night; I complain, and my spirit keeps searching:“Will my Lord reject me forever? Will he never be pleased again? Has his faithful love come to a complete end? Is his promise over for future generations? Has God forgotten how to be gracious? Has he angrily stopped up his compassion?”

Daylight Prayer – God of the creation, Today I pray for myself and all those who sometimes feel lost. Even though our minds may tell us that we are not, our world makes us feel completely abandoned. It caves in some days. It is wicked. It displays its evil side. We become afraid. We wonder…have we been rejected? Lord, have mercy on us, especially on those days when every simple thing goes wrong. Lift us from the dungeons of despair to know that we are not left alone; that you are with us…especially then. Quicken us to your life-giving, perfect Spirit. Amen.

Psalm 122: 1

Daylight Prayer – Father, on this Sunday, this Lord’s day, I ask for your blessings upon persons who have not be able to make it to a house of worship today. Where ever they are, bless them. Remind them that to worship with God’s people brings joy to your heart, for your Holy Spirit loves a crowd. Yet, also let them feel your divine presence where they are, so that they will remember your deep love for them. Thank you Lord for this day.  Amen.

Daylight Scripture –  In the same way, the Spirit comes to help our weakness. We don’t know what we should pray, but the Spirit himself pleads our case with unexpressed groans.

Amen.

Gracious one, touch us who are suffering and heal us for what other way do we have than you?  Amen.

Help us Lord to care for the creation with tender love, not only because it is our home, but because it is yours. Amen.

Psalm 90:17
Daylight Prayer – Lord, I thank you for the blessing of work. I know so many persons who would work if they could; seniors, whose strength is waned; teens who can’t find a summer job; disabled persons, whose health or mind prevent them from holding down a job; addicts, whose life demands hold them prisoner, and those with limited education, whose options are limited. Lord, bless these persons with joy in the midst of their hardships. Occupy their minds and hearts with the good and uplifting word. Send persons to them to be kind to them. Amen.

Job 10:22

DayLight Prayer – Dear Lord,  I thank you for all those who treat me with kindness. When I experience that fruit of the Spirit, I know that it comes from a heart filled with your love. If we are afraid of extending that love towards others, reassure us that no kindness, no matter how small, goes unnoticed or unappreciated. Help each of us to cultivate kindness towards others everyday.  Amen.

DayLight Scripture –  “I give you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, so you also must love each other. “

John 13:34

DayLight Prayer – Dear Lord,  I do not have many words for the current status of our country. We are divided over so many issues, that it seems impossible to have unity and to get along; to try to understand one another’s problems, hurts, sadness, treatment, and fears. Our differences have led into unspeakable violence against each other, to distrust, to cruelty, even to murder.  Lord, have mercy on us, forgive us, and help us to remember your commandment with sincere intention to live into Jesus’ words. Strengthen us, embolden us, encourage us, heal us, and release us to live with fresh commitment to loving one another even amid our differences.  Amen.
