Daylight Prayer – Lord, even though this time of year is made for rest and peace, for taking vacations,  and spending time with family and friends, I know some who are not resting or peaceful. Their lives are being bombarded with heartbreak, grief, sadness and worry. They are carrying very heavy burdens. Lord, come along beside them and help them to feel your blessed presence. Help them in their struggling to feel your love and comfort. No one can do that but you, I know. Thank you for being our burden bearer. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the arms to lie down—  and poverty will come on you like a prowler, destitution like a warrior.

Proverbs 6: 10-11

Daylight Prayer – Lord, in the midst of these long lazy summer days, I ask for motivation to keep me moving. It is so east to say…’I’ll take care of that tomorrow,’ when I know the Spirit is saying, ‘do it now.’ Forgive me when I am lazy and I procrastinate. Keep me ever mindful of your kingdom’s work. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – The Lord isn’t slow to keep his promise, as some think of slowness, but he is patient toward you, not wanting anyone to perish but all to change their hearts and lives.

Daylight Prayer – Lord, thank you for your patience with me. I know that I probably get on your last nerve! But you are always kind and willing to hear my moaning and groaning. I love you Lord, because I know that you will always be willing to wait for me, and that you are willing to wait for us all. Glory be to your name. Amen.

Psalm 57:11

Daylight Prayer – Gracious God…because you have given us this lush and beautiful planet for our home, I thank you. Because you have loved us continuously and fully, I thank you. Because you have forgiven us when we have done the most horrible of sins, I thank you. Because you are God, I give you praise. Amen.

Ephesians 4:2

Daylight Prayer – Oh God, would it be that we could follow these words of the apostle! No longer would there be so much strife and turmoil in our lives. Lord, if I stray from this wisdom today, correct me. If I hope for anything but the best for anyone, correct me. If I lose your spirit of love, correct me. Lord, I pray. Amen.

Daylight Scripture –  God’s riches, wisdom, and knowledge are so deep! They are as mysterious as his judgments, and they are as hard to track as his paths!

Romans 11:33

Daylight Prayer – Great God, Guide me today in your great wisdom. Help me to see as you do…the world around me. Show me how to love people who aren’t so lovable. Let me be a witness to you in such a way as to lift a spirit, calm a fear or light a path. I pray in Christ’s name. Amen.

Daylight Prayer – Lord, It is amazing to me just how afraid people are these days. So many of the fears we have are baseless, particularly when we know that you are with us at all times. I am so grateful that you carry my fears and cares when I am at my wits end. Thank you for giving me the strength to seek you when I feel afraid. Freedom from fear is life! Amen.

Daylight Scripture – Who can live in your tent, Lord? Who can dwell on your holy mountain? The person who lives free of blame, does what is right, and speaks the truth sincerely; who does no damage with their talk, does no harm to a friend, doesn’t insult a neighbor;

Psalm 15: 1-3

Daylight Prayer – Lord, I suppose David could not imagine that you would come to dwell is the tent of your children. I am so grateful that you have. How else can I keep the commandments you have given unless you are there to guide and empower me? I praise you for the Spirit that you have anointed me with. Help me to strengthen that connection to you and your ways every day. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – Just as a rainbow lights up a cloud on a rainy day, so its brightness shone all around. This was how the form of the Lord’s glory appeared. When I saw it, I fell on my face. I heard the sound of someone speaking.

Ezekiel 1:28

Daylight Prayer – Lord, thank you for the rainbows I see. They do indeed display your glory and fill me with the joy of the day. You bring me gladness in so many ways, and I do not always seek to give you thanks for it. Forgive me when I miss what you send my way, and help me to pay more attention to the gradual lighting of each new day. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – Praise the Lord! Those who honor the Lord, who adore God’s commandments, are truly happy!

Psalm 112: 1

Daylight Prayer – I praise you today Lord, and thank you for the life giving rain you have sent. Like rain, I pray your Holy Spirit to be alive in me today…and that you can use me to your good will. Help me to acknowledge all the help you give me. Help me to see the majesty of your creation. Help me to gain understanding of your ways. In all things I praise you God, my creator, savior and Lord. Amen.
