DayLight Scripture – Better to be patient than a warrior, and better to have self-control than to capture a city.

Proverbs 16:32

DayLight Prayer – Lord, I must admit, I do lose patience at times. And…well, my self-control is non-existent on many days. I need your help, your strength for these things. Have mercy on me, I pray. Amen.

DayLight Scripture – God said to Samuel, “Have no regard for his appearance or stature, because I haven’t selected this person as king. The Lord doesn’t look at things like humans do. Humans see only what is visible to the eyes, but the Lord sees into the heart.”

1 Samuel 16:7

DayLight Prayer – Lord, today I pray for all of us who judge. I am as guilty as anyone in doing that. I often look at the appearance, actions, and come to my own conclusions. I know it is wrong to look at the outside of a person only, because that view is so very limited. Please forgive me for judging, and help me to see people more through your eyes. Amen. 

DayLight Scripture – God said, “Let the earth grow plant life: plants yielding seeds and fruit trees bearing fruit with seeds inside it, each according to its kind throughout the earth.” And that’s what happened.

Genesis 1:11

DayLight Prayer – Lord, It feels like spring today, and I am giddy. Forgive me that I have almost forgotten that it is Lent. Help me to remember your passion and the suffering you endure for me and the world.  Amen. 

DayLight Scripture – The goal of instruction is love from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith.

1 Timothy 1:5

DayLight Prayer – Lord, I wonder if asked what the goal of instruction is, if I would answer like Paul would have. Forgive me when I forget the goal of instruction, preaching, teaching, learning, and being in the Kingdom of God…is love.  Amen. 

DayLight Scripture – I heard the voice of the Lord saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

Isaiah 6:8

DayLight Prayer – Lord, I admit that I am somewhat hard of hearing when it come to discerning your call to go. So help my ears, and help my spirit to be excited to go where you send me. Amen. 

DayLight Scripture – But I keep my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway!

1 Corinthians 9:27

DayLight Prayer – Lord, forgive me when I preach it, but don’t live it. Cast me not away. Amen. 

DayLight Scripture – Dear friends, let’s love each other, because love is from God, and everyone who loves is born from God and knows God.

1 John 4:7

DayLight Prayer – Lord, I know that when we are loving one another, that is when we are living like your boy Jesus. I know that makes you proud of us. Help me today to love like Jesus. Amen. 

DayLight Scripture – God didn’t send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be rescued through him.

John 3:17

DayLight Prayer – Father, I pray today for anybody who does not know that God has sent us a rescue, a way home, a secure future, a kingdom, Jesus. I pray for them. Amen.

DayLight Scripture – I commanded your ancestors when I bought them out of the land of Egypt, that iron crucible, saying, Obey me and observe all that I instruct you. Then you will be my people and I, even I, will be your God.

Jeremiah 11:4

DayLight Prayer – Father, our obedience is difficult. We have trouble feeding the hungry, because we want to feed ourselves first and best. Help me today to resist placing others last, help me to take on your way and think of others first. Amen. 

DayLight Scripture – By faith we understand that the universe has been created by a word from God so that the visible came into existence from the invisible.

Hebrews 11:3

DayLight Prayer – Lord, My prayer today is for those who are engaged in scientific research. They are the ones you have gifted to see beyond where most of us can see. Thank  you for them because without their lives we would not have light bulbs, treatments for cancer, or plastic! Thank you for this. your word-created world. Help us everyday to better understand it, cherish it and take care of it. Amen.
