Daylight Scripture – The Mighty One, God the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.

Daylight Prayer – Lord, thank you for the created earth that you gave us to be our home. This time of year, when new life is budding, blooming, and greening, I remember your promise of resurrection. Each year you reenact it in earth. I look forward to the resurrection when you not only summons creation from death to life, but also you summons your church to rise and live! Amen.

Daylight Scripture – I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

Daylight Prayer – Lord, we remember today the day of joy and celebration that took place when you entered the holy City of David…and we remember what you were facing later on in the week. Forgive us Lord, when we take the peace you give us for granted. You gave it to us through your own life’s blood…as you truly overcame the world. Even in the midst of turmoil show us your peace, and enable us to grasp it fully. Amen.

Daylight Scripture –  As you set yourselves apart by your obedience to the truth so that you might have genuine affection for your fellow believers, love each other deeply and earnestly.

Daylight Prayer – Lord, I am so grateful that you made each of your children unique, different, and possessing the image of God. Lord, because we are all like you in some way, help us to see that in one another. Create in us a spirit of acceptance for the differences we have, so that we can see you in one another. Help us to lay down our judging spectacles and see clearly. In Jesus name, I ask it. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – You rule over the surging sea: When its waves rise up, it’s you who makes them still.

Psalm 89:9

Daylight Prayer – Lord, I know that there are folks who are experiencing surging seas today. The events they are experiencing are like the forces of giant waves, crashing in upon them from every side. I pray for these. I pray that you give them the lifeline of hope that they need. I pray that you hold them above the water, keeping them safe until the storms pass by. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – I offer praise in the great congregation because of you; I will fulfill my promises in the presence of those who honor God.

Psalm 22:25

Daylight Prayer – Gracious God, I am so grateful for the great congregation of those who gather to worship and praise you every Sunday. As the Holy Spirit pulls us together into a sacred community, help us to experience you in ways that astound us, and magnify your son, Jesus. Let us know that in your presence is where we are healed and restored. Praise the Lord! Amen.

Daylight Scripture – We eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness through the Spirit by faith.

Galatians 5: 5

Daylight Prayer – Lord, thank you for Jesus. Thank you for the grace that he has made available to us, our gift of righteousness…his own. Help each of us who claim his name to live into a life of faith through the Spirit of the Lord, so that others may be loved and cared for as we are. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – Why, I ask myself, are you so down? Why are you so upset inside? Hope in God! Because I will again give him thanks, my saving presence and my God.

Psalm 42: 5

Daylight Prayer – Lord for all of those who are suffering flu, head colds, pneumonia, rashes, allergies, and other Spring illnesses, I ask for your comfort and healing. This time of year is the time when we would rather rejoice in the beauty of your world. Give us the peace of knowing that you will take us through as always, healing and restoring. Lord have mercy as we hope in you. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – Blessed are people who grieve, because they will be made glad.

Matthew 5:4

Daylight Prayer – Gracious and loving God. People are grieving in many places today. They have lost sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, friends, husbands, wives and people they love. Let their spirits rest in you as they take on and carry these losses. Help them through the day reassuring them they they will not die because of this pain, but that one day gladness will return…simply because that is your promise to us. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – How will you avoid crouching among the prisoners and falling among the slain? Even so, God’s anger hasn’t turned away; God’s hand is still extended.

Isaiah 10: 4

Daylight Prayer – Lord, the prophet asks the question…how will I avoid falling among the slain, which is another way of saying how will I be saved. God, I know that I will be saved because of your grace and nothing else. Today I pray for those who do not know this good news…to hear it. Through grace we are saved, through your hand extended to us in Christ Jesus. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – Judge not, that you be not judged.

Matthew 7: 1

Daylight Prayer – Lord, I must admit that hardly a day goes by that I don’t make a judgment of one kind or another. Forgive me. Help me to live with an openness that is welcoming to anybody…everybody. Help me to build relationships, offer kindness and  a generosity of spirit. Through Jesus I pray, Amen.
