Daylight Scripture – The woman [at the well] said, “I know that the Messiah is coming, the one who is called the Christ. When he comes, he will teach everything to us.” Jesus said to her, “I Am—the one who speaks with you.”

John 4: 25-26

Daylight Prayer – Lord, I know that there are so many of us seeking you today. People who feel like outcasts, unworthy, and unable to know God like others seem to know you. Come to us as Jesus did to this blessed woman. Come to us in the everyday things we do. Speak to us. Tell us who you are. Convince us of your love. Convince us that no matter what we may have done, said, or acted like…that we are forgiven and saved by your grace. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – Happy are people who have pure hearts, because they will see God.

Matthew 5:8

Daylight Prayer – Lord, I want to thank you today for the pure hearts I have seen around me. Those whose faithfulness to you shine a great light in my life and cause me to want to be a better person. Were it not for those pure ones, what would the earth be like? It would be a place of darkness and hopelessness. I praise you for those who put your first in all things and for all that they bring to me and to the world. Amen.

Daylight Scripture –And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it.

Mark 8: 34-35

Day Light Prayer – Lord, why do we fear giving our life up to you? For you take it forever to be with you, yet you let us live. Thank you for Jesus, for giving us a chance to gain heaven, to gain an abundant life, and to gain blessings yet unknown. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – Salvation belongs to the Lord; your blessing be on your people! Selah

Psalm 3:8

Daylight Prayer – Lord, I regret that some of us still do understand that we cannot save ourselves. Only you can. Only you can save us from our deeds that are so horrible. Only you can save us to the life of God in which we can live eternally. You are unlimited…but we, we are limited. We lack. We cannot forgive. Only you can. Thanks be to God for mercy, love and salvation. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – God’s judgments are more desirable than gold— than tons of pure gold! They are sweeter than honey— even dripping off the honeycomb!

Psalm 19:10

Daylight Prayer – Graceful God of Heaven, I am happy that you are my judge. Not that I am good, I know myself too well. But that I know you judge me with mercy and love. In Jesus I do not fear what your judgments will bring to me, for I know that you are my father and you give me good always. Maybe this is what the Psalm writer was getting at. Your judgement is sweet like honey, sticky food for the well being of the world. I praise you for your love and grace. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – Stretch out your hand to bring healing and enable signs and wonders to be performed through the name of Jesus, your holy servant.”

Acts 4:30

Daylight Prayer – Lord, when Peter and John asked that you heal, they were given the fullness of the Holy Spirit. They were able to go forward, strengthened by your power. They didn’t have to solely rely on their own steam. So today, I pray for people everywhere who are seeking healing and wholeness. Let what ever is attacking their bodies and spirits be sanctioned invalid by your Holy Spirit. Give them your strength in place of their own so that they may go forward, praising you for the restoration you bring. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – Be glad in the Lord always! Again I say, be glad! Let your gentleness show in your treatment of all people.

Philippians 4:4-5

Daylight Prayer – Lord, I remember the song from when I was little…”If you are happy and you know it, clap your hands…stomp your feet…say amen. Today I pray that all who are feeling low will be given the gift of your mercy, and that their lives are filled with gladness. In the midst of our sour moments, smile your Spirit upon us. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – Perhaps the Lord will see my distress; perhaps the Lord will repay me with good for this cursing today.

2 Samuel 16:12

Daylight Prayer – Lord, I am praying for anybody who is having one of those “cursing” days. They do come upon us especially when we are feeling weak and tired. Help Lord. Give us your strength and fill us with hope when the world is falling in; times when we see the curses of evil abounding. Lift us up to the presence of your grace, and give us the will to seek your face in prayer. Amen.

Daylight Scripture – The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalm 27:1

Daylight Prayer – Gracious Lord, Today I pray for those who are distressed, and who may be fearful of things, people, and the future. Give them hope in you, and assurance that you are indeed the stronghold of life. We live because of you and you alone. Help them, help me to seek your way everyday, so that my fears will be made irrelevant. Bring us joy, peace and hope! Amen.

Daylight Scripture – A person is praised for insight, but a warped mind leads to contempt.

Proverbs 12:8

Daylight Prayer – Lord, I pray for insight, for discernment. My mind is sometimes warped by people and the circumstances in this world that I do not understand. I see cruelty, hatefulness, and so many dispirited people. I witness foul actions and hear foolish words that don’t make sense to me. Bring your mighty wisdom to bear upon people and through out this world. Overcome the madness! Make available your strength, your mercy and your love so that your kingdom will come on earth as it is in heaven.  Amen.
