About Judy Eurey

In my life I am a wife to Ed, a mom to Amanda and Charles, Mimi to Sara and Jessy, and Judy to my friends and family. In 2019 I retired from pastoral ministry and have settled into my new normal. Frankly I love being retired. Unless otherwise noted, the Scripture passages used on my blog DayLight are my own paraphrased interpretations. I invite you to verify, dispute and otherwise comment. I am open to discussion.

DayLight Scripture –

God said to Noah, “This rainbow is a sign of the covenant between me and all living things on earth.”

Genesis 9:17

DayLight Prayer –

Lord, I am constantly looking for rainbows. Maybe it is because they are beautiful, or that they mean the stormy skies are passing, or simply because I remember your promise to Noah; that you won’t destroy the creation you love.  Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

Those who cling to worthless idols forsake faithful love.

Jonah 2:8

DayLight Prayer –

Father, I believe sometimes that I fall for worthlessness; those things that appear to be able to keep me. Forgive me when I do turn from you and look at some other god. Forgive me and bring me to my senses. Keep me hooked up with the One faithful love. Yours.  Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

A voice came from the throne, saying: Praise the Lord, all you servants of God, those who revere and reverence God, both great and small.

Rev. 19:5

DayLight Prayer –

Most Loving God, I praise you with my heart and soul. With my life and goods I praise you. In the day and in the night, I praise you. When I’m healthy or not, I praise you. In good times and in bad times, I praise you. Praise the name of the Lord!  Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

Luke 6:37

DayLight Prayer –

Lord, I see it now–if I don’t judge, I won’t condemn. If I don’t condemn, then what will need to be forgiven? Help me today to keep my feelings off of my sleeve and in check. Prevent me from making judgments that lead to condemnation and unforgiveness. Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

Those who live with integrity live securely, but a perverted life will be revealed.

Proverbs 10:9

DayLight Prayer –

Lord, How is it that we forget that you know everything about us. It is certain then that our personal and secret “trash bags” are going to be opened up one day and all our mess will be laid out for review. God help me to need only the smallest Hefty bags, and not the bit black lawn bags! Keep me from making such big messes that my trash will need to be raked and hauled by trucks! Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

Everything is permissible, but not everything is helpful. Everything is permissible, but not everything builds up. No one should seek his own good, but the good of the other person.

1 Corinthians 10: 23-24

DayLight Prayer –

Gracious God, How often I forget the proper ways to use the freedom you have given me. Help me today to react to everyone in a manner that is pleasing to you–putting others before myself, being helpful and encouraging. Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

Lord your faithful love reaches to the heavens and your faithfulness to the skies.

Psalm 36:5

DayLight Prayer –

Lord, I am thankful to read the psalmist’s words today. I rejoice that your loving faithfulness reaches beyond what I can see. I know that you go into all places, seeking them who need your love and need your comfort. All the ways you provide are unseen by me. I praise you, the Holy One whose faithful love is everlasting. Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

What is a human, that you consider him, that you care for her? You made humankind lower than angels for a short time; crowned them with glory and honor and subjected all things to them.

Hebrews 2: 6-7

DayLight Prayer –

Lord, How indeed is it that you have made us? I struggle with so many issues and complaints. I see so much that could be made into good. I know of so many hardened hearts. Help me to see and know that you value me–that you value each of us. Let me live into your minds design. Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

I lift my eyes to the mountains, asking where does help come from? My help comes from the Lord who made both heaven and earth.

Psalm 121: 1-2

DayLight Prayer –

Lord, Maker of all things, today I give thanks for the summer when the lushness of your creation captures my imagination; the night when I can sit out and try to count the stars; the day when I can sit and try to count the colors of your flower garden; Lord to imagine that you spoke and this world with all its diversity, beauty and grandeur simply became…well I’m awed and I’m grateful. Amen.

DayLight Scripture –

Listen to your servant’s prayers and petitions, Lord; that you may hear their cry.

2 Chronicles 6:19

DayLight Prayer –

Lord, today I join in Solomon’s call upon you to listen for the prayers of your servants and your children of the earth.  We need you to hear us when we cry, for to whom shall we cry if not to you. You are our only salvation. Hear us Lord, I pray. Amen.
