About Judy Eurey

In my life I am a wife to Ed, a mom to Amanda and Charles, Mimi to Sara and Jessy, and Judy to my friends and family. In 2019 I retired from pastoral ministry and have settled into my new normal. Frankly I love being retired. Unless otherwise noted, the Scripture passages used on my blog DayLight are my own paraphrased interpretations. I invite you to verify, dispute and otherwise comment. I am open to discussion.

attic-treasureDayLight Scripture –  Just as everyone came from their mother’s womb naked, naked they’ll return, ending up just like they started. All their hard work produces nothing—nothing they can take with them. This too is a sickening tragedy that they must pass on just as they arrived. What then do they gain from working so hard for what blows through?

Ecclesiastes 5: 15-16

DayLight Prayer – Lord, You have told me that I should be spending my time working for heavenly things. I know your words are true, for what can I take with me into heaven? The truth is, heaven needs nothing that I could bring! You are heaven’s treasure. Lord, keep me seeking after you and all that you want, and help me to abandon the silly trinkets of this world.  Amen.

faithDayLight Scripture – We can mutually encourage each other while I am with you. We can be encouraged by the faithfulness we find in each other, both your faithfulness and mine.

Romans 1:12

DayLight Prayer – Lord, I am always encouraged by the faithfulness of your people. I am thankful for them, because, honestly, some days I need to see faithfulness in real people. The bible gives me many stories of faithful people, but to see them in action, keeping their lives in obedience to you, letting their words and deeds spread your love, even in the face of suffering and hardship…well Lord, your people encourage me! Thank you for all of them. Amen.

blue-crystal-6_bAUZI_17621DayLight Scripture – Call to me and I will answer and reveal to you wondrous secrets that you haven’t known.

Jeremiah 33:3

DayLight Prayer – Lord, May you be praised because you always…always listen to my calling. I do not have to worry about what may happen, though I admit at times, I do. Help me to remember that there are secrets awaiting me… wondrous secrets yet to be revealed. Help me to call and fall into your love, each and every day! Amen.

OccupationsDayLight Scripture – So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

1 Corinthians 10:31

DayLight Prayer – Lord, I so love this advice that Paul gave us via his Corinthian letter. I love it because I believe that many people think that you love mostly a person who is monk-like, who sits quietly and meditates on Scripture all day, and gives all their money to the poor. I know that you love that, but I also know you love jazz, reggae, and rap. You love oil painting and chalk drawings. You love medicine, teaching, and football. You like math, science, and great chefs. I know you love beautiful words, fine landscapes, and engineers. In fact, you made us to live glorious lives in your kingdom, loving, living and using the gifts you gave us. For that I’m and so grateful. Let all of us rejoice! We all don’t have to be preachers! Amen.

dog&boyDayLight Scripture –  But you, dear friends: build each other up on the foundation of your most holy faith, pray in the Holy Spirit,  keep each other in the love of God, wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will give you eternal life. Have mercy on those who doubt.

Jude 1: 20-22

DayLight Prayer – Lord, My heart today is with all those who have discouragement and doubts. Those feelings sometimes haunt even the most faithful Christian. Life and people throw us curves and we wonder…Lord, what is going on? I pray for each one who is having a blue day, or may be depressed, or even sad. Bless them with your wonderful love and your faithful presence, so they will perk up in Spirit! Amen.

what-is-a-naturopathic-doctorDayLight Scripture – I will make the blind walk a road they don’t know,
and I will guide them in paths they don’t know.
But I will make darkness before them into light
and rough places into level ground.
These things I will do;
I won’t abandon them.

Isaiah 42:16

DayLight Prayer – Lord, I love these words of promise for all of us who are walk in the dark and feel lost. To hear you say you will not abandon me is the best news I or anyone can get. Lord, help me know this day of your plans, and help anyone who is struggling in darkness to remember that you have promised them…light.  Amen.

I know the strength in your presence with them, so I ask you to be present with them and save them. Some may not even know they need you, but they do. FEEDING THE FIVE THOUSAND

DayLight Scripture – He ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass. He took the five loaves of bread and the two fish, looked up to heaven, blessed them and broke the loaves apart and gave them to his disciples. Then the disciples gave them to the crowds.

Matthew 14:19

DayLight Prayer – Lord, How is it that you can take such small things and make so much? Will you take the piddley bit of love I have within me, and multiply it like the loves and fishes…better yet, just fill me with your love! Amen.

John 10:10

DayLight Prayer – Lord, I’m ignoring the thief today. There is nothing that the thief can take from me since you Lord are helping me to hold on to everything. I love you Lord for how you love and protect me and bring me the best life, the fullest life, a life of love and grace! Amen.
