About Judy Eurey

In my life I am a wife to Ed, a mom to Amanda and Charles, Mimi to Sara and Jessy, and Judy to my friends and family. In 2019 I retired from pastoral ministry and have settled into my new normal. Frankly I love being retired. Unless otherwise noted, the Scripture passages used on my blog DayLight are my own paraphrased interpretations. I invite you to verify, dispute and otherwise comment. I am open to discussion.

angel prayingDayLight Scripture – Salt is good; but if salt loses its saltiness, how will it become salty again? Maintain salt among yourselves and keep peace with each other.

Mark 9:50

DayLight Prayer – Lord, My heart is heavy with grief today. Your heart is broken I know. Help us to gain understanding, wisdom and accuracy when the world deals us a blow so horrific. Help us to give in to just holding one another through tears of lament. Have mercy. Amen.

impatientDayLight Scripture –  Doom to those who drag guilt along with cords of fraud, and haul sin as if with cart ropes, who say, “God should hurry and work faster so we can see;  let the plan of Israel’s holy one come quickly, so we can understand it.”

Isaiah 5: 18-19

DayLight Prayer – Lord, Forgive me when I am impatient. Forgive me when I whine for understanding because of my need to know and control. Lord forgive me for not waiting patiently for you to reveal your plans. Lord, have mercy on me…your restless, breathless, in-a-hurry child.  Amen.

Purity_HeartDayLight Scripture –All the ways of people are pure in their eyes, but the Lord tests the motives.

Proverbs 16:2

DayLight Prayer – Lord, I know that even the motives I perceive to be pure are rusty and moth-eaten compared to your plans. Help me today to see how you see things, so that when I am tested, I will bring you glory.   Amen.

Acts 5:12-13

DayLight Prayer – Lord, Today I pray for all Christian disciples who are diligently ministering in your kingdom. Help them to continue even when they can’t see the fruit of their labors; when people talk good about them and when they talk bad. We all need your encouragement, so let us seek you for it and not look to the world around us for affirmation. Help us follow you and not the world.  Amen.

Luke 5: 5-6

DayLight Prayer – Lord, Sometimes following your commands make little sense to us. Help us to see that when we are working on our own, the results are not always fruitful, but when you guide us…things will turn out differently. Renew our strength to continue on working, even when we are tired and really don’t make sense of your words. Help us to let down the nets for a catch.  Amen.

Mark 2:8

DayLight Prayer – Lord, Today I pray for all of us who have so many questions…which often begin with Why? Lord help me to trust you, and believe that in some space and in some time, you will show me all of the answers. Help me be content with your grace, mercy and unbelievable ability to make all things work together for good. Amen.
