About Judy Eurey

In my life I am a wife to Ed, a mom to Amanda and Charles, Mimi to Sara and Jessy, and Judy to my friends and family. In 2019 I retired from pastoral ministry and have settled into my new normal. Frankly I love being retired. Unless otherwise noted, the Scripture passages used on my blog DayLight are my own paraphrased interpretations. I invite you to verify, dispute and otherwise comment. I am open to discussion.

Children are playing on green meadowDaylight Scripture – Jesus said, “The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure that somebody hid in a field, which someone else found and covered up. Full of joy, the finder sold everything and bought that field.

Matthew 13:44

DayLight Prayer – Lord, I pray for all of us who overlook the treasures around us; those of us who won’t even go into the field to look for a treasure, and who never find what you have placed there for us. Forgive us Lord for not trusting you to fill our lives with the abundance of everything we need and more…joy, love, hope, grace, and blessings! Treasures galore! Amen.

BibleDayLight Scripture – Jesus said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.”

Luke 4:43

DayLight Prayer – Lord, Today I pray for those called to proclaim the good news in places where they are not accepted, where their words are rejected and their lives made difficult because of their calling. God enter into the situations of proclamation, bring the Holy Spirit to bear upon hearts and minds. Place within every preacher the love of Christ and the passion of ministry, so that all may hear the good news. Amen.

prarieDayLight Scripture – You are saved by God’s grace because of your faith. This salvation is God’s gift. It’s not something you possessed.

Ephesians 2: 8

DayLight Prayer – Lord, What wonderful good news it is to know that we can be saved…from this life which is so full of suffering, trouble and death. You have given us a great gift, more than we can even imagine. Foolishly we consider that we can make ourselves alive through our own will…or our own possessions, or our own early bound being. Let us all rejoice that salvation is possible through faith in you.  Let us not be fools.  Amen.

lost sheepDayLight Scripture – Jesus told them this parable: “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?

Luke 15: 3-4

DayLight Prayer – Lord, How many times a day do we consider the lost sheep? Do we see them when we move from one place of focus to another? Do we think about them when we are eating our lunch, or getting our nails done, or walking across the putting green? Do we hope for them? look for them? find them and bring them home? Lord have mercy on us, and give us your heart…the heart of a shepherd. Amen.

Proverbs 19:8

Daylight Prayer – Lord, Today I pray for persons who need wisdom and understanding. I am certainly among them. Help us to think about the decisions of our lives with great care. imageDaylight Scripture – On that day: The deaf will hear the words of a scroll and, freed from dimness and darkness, the eyes of the blind will see. The poor will again find joy in the Lord, and the neediest of people will rejoice in the holy one of Israel.

Isaiah 29:18-19

Daylight Prayer – Holy God, I know that we still struggle day to day to keep faith in a world that seems to be very out-of-control.
